The Buffalo Bills made a decisive move on Tuesday by appointing Joe Brady as their interim offensive coordinator, a decision that followed the team's decision to relieve Ken Dorsey of his duties.

At 34 years old, Brady was once hailed as one of the most promising young offensive minds in football during his tenure at LSU. Now, with seven games left in the current season, Brady has the opportunity to showcase his skills and potentially secure the role on a permanent basis.

Brady's association with LSU began in 2019 when he joined as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. This move yielded immediate success as Brady played a pivotal role in transforming Joe Burrow into a football sensation. In Burrow's debut season at LSU, he threw for 16 touchdowns, but under Brady's guidance, he soared to 60 touchdowns and 5,671 yards. The remarkable journey also led to a national championship and Burrow winning the prestigious Heisman Trophy.

Working with top receivers Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase, Brady not only had a wealth of talent but also earned recognition by winning the Broyles Award for the best assistant coach in college football.

Following his successful stint at LSU, Brady transitioned to the NFL as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in January 2020. Despite the promising start, his tenure was short-lived as he was relieved of his duties in early December 2021 by then-head coach Matt Rhule.

As Brady takes the reins of the Buffalo Bills' offense, fans can anticipate a dynamic approach. In 2020, while with the Panthers, Brady showcased an affinity for incorporating motion on drop backs and frequently employed shotgun formations, though the team ranked lower in this aspect. Expectations include an increase in motion for the Bills and a greater emphasis on rushing with quarterback Josh Allen under center. Additionally, Brady's Panthers ranked 9th in the league for play-action, hinting at a strategic use of this tactic with the Bills.

An interesting connection between Brady and Bills head coach Sean McDermott is their shared alma mater, William & Mary College. Despite the significant age gap, both played football at the school, with Brady as a wide receiver and McDermott as a defensive back.

Before his time at LSU, Brady spent two seasons as an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints (2017-2018), working under the guidance of Sean Payton. The influence of Payton's coaching concepts is expected to play a role in Brady's approach with the Bills, adding another layer to the team's offensive strategy.
